Simple Network Management Protocol version 2 is the acronym for SNMPv2, which is a device used for monitoring the devices in a computer network. Simple Network Management Protocol version 3 is an acronym for SNMPv3, which is the most recent version of SNMP.
SNMPv2 has a very complex system for its security; the system is a part based one while the SNMPv3 security system is cryptographic. SNMPv1 managed devices can employ the use of SNMPv2 agents as their proxy agents. SNMPv2 has a feature that allows the acknowledgment of reception of messages by managers. SNMPv3 has a security system that authenticates messages and also ensures their privacy.
