There are so many differences between Flu and Meningitis. First, meningitis simply means the inflammation of the meninges. This inflammation can be caused by microorganisms, like viruses and bacteria. If the inflammation is caused by a bacterium, it is called bacterial meningitis, and it is caused by a virus, it is called viral meningitis.

As soon as the disease-causing bacteria or virus enters into the bloodstream, it goes straight to the brain and causes the inflammation of the meninges of the brain. On the other hand, flu is an infectious disease caused by a virus.

Its full form is influenza, and it has two types, they are influenza A and influenza B. You can get infected with flu when an infected person who has the virus already sneezes or coughs. You can also contact it when you touch any material that has the virus on it already. Both diseases have the same symptoms, but the difference is that meningitis usually causes the stiffness of the neck.
