Winter is the last and coldest season of the year. During the wintertime, the outdoor activities consist of building a snowman, throwing snowballs, sledding, and making snow angels on winter's white ground. Spring, however, is the first season of the year. During the spring, when it is not raining, outdoor activities consist of jogging, picnics in the park, bird watching and flower picking. During the winter, animals hibernate because of a lack of food supply. Humans sometimes sleep more in the winter because of the bitter cold. Spring is the season of renewal. It occurs when the sun is directly above the equator. Spring is when it begins to warm up outside, and there is more daylight during this season. Winter occurs between December and February, while springtime occurs between March and May.
