HSDPA stands for high-speed downlink packet access, and UMTS stands for a universal telecommunications system. The UMTS is a third-generation mobile communication system; its network is based on (WCDMA) which is the wideband code division multiple access. It provides a path to high-speed packet access (HSPA).

The HSPA is a collaboration of HSDPA,, the high-speed uplink packet access (HSUPA). The HSDPA is also a mobile telephony protocol used in the 3G UMTS radio networks to increase the speed of transfer and capacity.

The HSDPA evolved from the WCDMA, the evolved HSDPA provides faster download speed like the earlier version, and this allows their users to explore all kinds of music and videos. Its data transfer is up to 14.4 Mbps per cell for downloads and 2 Mbps per cell for upload.

UMTS or Universal Mobil Telecommunications System and HSDPA or High-Speed Downlink Packet Access are two technologies used in the 3G network. UMTS is a 3G network for mobile electronics. The common type of UMTS makes use of Time Division CDMA and Time Division Synchronous CDMA.

HSDPA is used in telephony communications due to its enhanced nature and capacity for the 3G network. HSDPA is used together with HSUPA or High-Speed Uplink Packet Access in order to increase the performance of different kinds of protocols. For UMTS to work properly, new frequency allocation and base stations need to be set up.

In contrast, a transport layer like High-Speed Downlink Shared Channel is needed before HSDPA can work effectively. The transfer speed of the two is another differentiating factor. In this case, UMTS has a higher transfer speed as it can transfer up to 21 Mbit/s, whereas HSDPA has a transfer speed of 14 Mbit/s.

UMTS and HSDPA are related to the telecommunication industry. UMTS is an abbreviation for Universal Mobil Telecommunications System. It is 3G equipment, also known as third generation. UMTS is mainly used in WCDMA, which stands for wideband code division multiple access.

This system is an important aspect of the 3G network mobile telecommunication tools. HSDPA is an abbreviation for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access. It is another aspect of 3G networks. Between the two, HSDPA has a higher speed than UMTS.

For phones in the HSDPA group, HSDPA is used for communicating. Another difference between the two is that UMTS uses new base station.

UMTS stands for The Universal Mobil Telecommunications System, and it is a third-generation or 3G equipment for mobile electronics. The most customary form of UMTS makes use of WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access). This standard is an essential feature of any mobile telecommunication tool of the 3G network. It covers the authentication of users, radio access network, and the core network.

HSDPA stands for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, which is also an element of the 3G network; however, it is a step above in terms of speed. It is a procedure that is used in mobile telephony communications in the HSDPA group. HSDPA has a transfer speed of up to 14. Mbit/s. UMTS possesses a transfer speed of 21 Mbit/s. UMTS entails the use of new base stations. HSDPA does not.
