Maharashtra and Gujarat are two popular states in India. Both were formerly a state, i.e.; they were formerly known as Bombay state. However, the separation of Bombay state brought about the creation of two independent states known as Maharashtra and Gujarat. One of the major differences in the location of the two states.
At the same time, Maharashtra shares border with about seven different states, Gujarat shares border with just three states. Another difference is that Gujarat shares a border with a province from a neighboring country. In contrast, Maharashtra does not share a border with any foreign province. This means all the seven states it borders with are states in India.
The capital of Maharashtra is Mumbai, while the capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar. While both states are trade states, Maharashtra is arguably the richest state in India. The common language spoken by the people of Gujarat is the Gujrati language, while the Marathi language is commonly spoken in Maharashtra.
