7.1 and 7.2 systems are two specifications of the surround sound system that is topping the table. The first and major difference between them is that the 7.2 has an additional sub, which eventually gives more oomph to the sound.

But it is very important you understand that a good 7.2 sound system would have two different channels for the subs, in order to avoid the two subs from providing the same signal in the output. Some 7.1 systems look like the 7.2 systems due to the fact that they have two subs also.

But the thing about it is that the subs would be giving only a signal from a channel through a Y split. To check for the difference between them, you can go further by reducing the sound frequency of your system. You would notice that the 7.2 gives a better directional sound even at low sound frequency.

Having a surround sound system gives you the best aural experience with your video games and movies. There are differences between the surrounding systems.

7.2 system should have two separates channels for the subs so that the two subs may not be outputting the same signal. A 7.2 system should give you a better direction when it comes to frequency sounds; this is achieved by altering volume levels of the individual subs.

Some 7.1 systems may seem like7.2 system because they have two subs, but the facts are that those two subs get the same signal from a single channel via Y splitter. When you use a 7.1 system with spluttering for two subs, the sound would always seem dead since the two have the same intensity and volume. You can only 7.1 sound on Blu-ray hardware.

7.1 and 7.2 are two types of surround sound systems. One of the main differences between them is in regards to the subwoofer output. 7.2 includes an additional subwoofer output. This output allows for more power to be given to the sound.

When using these two outputs on the 7.2, they should have two different ways to output, so that they do not give off the same signal. Another difference between the two is in regard to modern day usage. Most modern media does not support 7.2 systems, because the media itself does not use 7.2. however, when it is used, the radial asymmetry is improved.

The chief difference between 7.1 and 7.2 surround systems is that 7.2 comes with another subwoofer output that gives more power to the sound. 7.2 subwoofer outputs should have two independent channels so that they are not outputting the same signal. Some 7.1 systems have the same attributes as 7.2 because of the added sub.

The two subs derive the same signal from a single channel through a four splitter. If you used a 7.1 system with a splitter for the two subs, it would possess the same capacity and strength as the latter. 7.1 is obtained on blue ray hardware, which is specially designed for this function. Modern media do not even consider 7.2 systems since almost no media supports 7.2. However, a 7.2 system gives you improved radial asymmetry when it comes to low-frequency sounds.
