There are a lot of people who assume that mold and mildew are the same, but actually, they are not. You will be able to distinguish mildew based on how it looks. You will notice that it is usually white, gray, or yellow. You will see it grow in various areas that are normally moist. The color of the mold will be different. You will notice that they are green or black.
They will usually grow in areas that have become wet. If you would touch mold, you will notice that they are usually slimy, which is why people do not usually like touching them. In some areas, though, you cannot help but touch them accidentally.
Mold and Mildew are two forms of fungi that are mostly found in decaying materials. Most times, people tend to confuse the two together in that both are mostly found on decaying materials with different colors.
As much as you might easily confuse the two together, mold and Mildew differ in some ways. One of the ways to differentiate the two is that molds are most times found on food, and it can appear in different colors like black, blue, red, green.
Once you notice the appearance of molds on your food, it means your food is getting spoilt already, which means you shouldn't eat it anymore. Mildew, on the other hand, is found mostly in paper or other textile materials, and it usually appears in different like grey and white. Mildew can easily be removed with the right cleaning agents if it is growing only on hard surfaces.
Mold tends to grow on more wet areas, it's usually black or green. Mildew instead likes more warm areas and it color can be grey, white or yellow. In any case they can be toxic, so pay attention!
