In order to understand the difference between the two, it is important that you know what these acronyms mean. UGC stands for University Grant Commissions. The AICTE stands for the All India Council for Technical Education. A lot of people would usually want to get the UGC because they know that this will allow them to get a grant into any university that they would decide to choose in the future.

If people would choose to get AICTE, this will only be useful for colleges that will offer technical courses. Of course, this would be ideal if you only want to get a technical course. Take note that you will have no problem with getting government-related jobs if you would choose to try UGC or AICTE.

UGC is the short form of the University Grants Commission. This body was created in 1956, and it is saddled with the responsibility of approving universities in India. Affiliated universities and colleges get their funds from this commission. UGC is also a body that employs teachers for most colleges in India. AICTE, on the other hand, is the short form of All India Council for Technical Education. From its full form, it is very easy to know that it is a body that focuses majorly on technical education.

This body is responsible for the planning and development of certain programs that are needed by students in technical schools or other related schools.

While AICTE also disburses grants to technical schools under it, its main function is to ensure that all the fields under technical education are closely monitored. In some areas, AICTE is most times controlled by the Human Resources Development Ministry, whereas UGC is an independent body.
