Love is an emotion or feeling that comes from the heart. On the other hand, infatuation is a feeling or emotion you have towards the opposite sex, usually due to some hormonal triggers. When you are feeling sexually attracted to the opposite sex whom you have not had some connections with, the right word to describe the feeling is infatuation. When you love someone, you have gotten a level of understanding of the person, and you have connected strongly with the person emotionally and physically. Love might not necessarily be a sexual feeling since you can love anybody. For instance, we all claim we love our parents and siblings and does not mean we are getting attracted to them sexually. Love is an element that can stand the test of time, meaning it does not fade with time. On the contrary, infatuation is a feeling that fades with time. What usually causes infatuation are the things we see with our eyes, whereas love sees beyond the physical features of a person.
When you say infatuation, this means that you feel that you have a connection with someone instantly after you have met. This may also mean that you have easily become attracted to someone without knowing the person fully. When you say love, this means that you know the good side and the bad side of the person but you still feel that the person is special to you. This means that even if you know that the person is not perfect and there are some things that you do not agree on, you still know that you have strong feelings toward the person. Some people say that you will feel infatuated for about 18 months but in the process of it, that is the time when you can actually start feeling love towards the person.
