One of the differences between cyclones and tornados is that Cyclones occur over the water, while the latter occurs over the land. While you can also call this one of their differences, there are other ways of differentiating the two events. Out of the two, the magnitude of the action of tornadoes is relatively smaller than that of cyclones. For instance, when a tornado occurs and stretches over miles, the formation of a Cyclone of the same size will cover more miles compared to the former. Unlike cyclones that happen at low atmospheric pressure, a higher atmospheric pressure encourages the formation of a tornado. In other words, a Cyclone does not usually occur at a higher atmospheric pressure. However, this same condition contributes to the formation of a tornado. Another difference is that a tornado can only happen for some minutes, while a cyclone can occur for several days.
There are different natural disasters that may take place and some of them are very confusing. A cyclone and a tornado may seem the same in the beginning but when you say cyclone, this is known to be a type of storm that can be considered to be very destructive. There are strong winds that are known to have a low-pressure center. The tornado, on the other hand, can be considered as a type of violent storm. A tornado will also have a central point. The cloud will seem funnel-shaped which is why this will have the ability to uproot trees and also cause huge destruction of the various items that it will be on its path.
