Black and Green Peppercorn are both dried fruits of the pepper vine. Although both are similar in some ways, there are some differences between the two. For instance, there are different ways of processes pepper vine; black and green peppercorn are the products of two of those ways. Black and Green peppercorns are made by using unripe pepper. However, both are processed and preserved in different ways. Green peppercorns can be processed by treating them with sulfur dioxide to keep the green color. On the other hand, black peppercorns are made using unripe pepper. You can make black peppercorns by boiling unripe pepper. However, you will need to dry the cooked unripe pepper for some days. This process will cause the color of the peppercorn to change to black. A lot of people find black peppercorns to be spicier than green peppercorns. That is why black peppercorns are usually preferred.

When you are purchasing peppercorn, it will always be very helpful if you would know the differences with their colors and which one you should buy for what you plan to do. Black peppercorns are known to come with more flavor. They are also spicier and would have a distinct taste. This is the reason why whenever people would look for peppercorn, they are more familiar with the black ones as compared to the green ones. Green peppercorns are created with unripe pepper. They go through certain processes so that they will be able to retain their color. Some people choose to get green peppercorns because of their appearance alone.
