Toxins are poisonous or harmful substances produced by animals, plants, and microorganisms such as protozoa, viruses, bacteria, or fungi. They interact with the enzymes of the body and cause diseases. Although some toxins can cause a little discomfort, others can cause the death of an organism. There are different types of toxins, they include; endotoxins, exotoxins, phytotoxins, cyanotoxins, hemotoxins, etc. On the other hand, Poisons are substances that are lethal or harmful to living organisms. They can be absorbed through the gut or skin of organisms. Due to the harmful nature of poisons, these substances can be used to carry out assassination or murder. However, poisons can still be used as a form of control of pests and weed. While toxins are usually natural substances, poisons can be made naturally or artificially. At times, drugs can turn to poisons when they are consumed in large doses. Also, some drugs which are considered harmful to some animals are not harmful to others.
