The ego has many definitions, and it could refer to a deep sense of pride; however, ego has carried negative connotations for a very long time. It could also refer to how selfish someone is or how full of themselves they are based on their attitude towards others and about themselves. There are varying definitions of ego in psychology, religion, and spirituality.
Ego may involve belief, tolerance, reality testing, control, planning, or the amassing of information, intellectual function, and memory. Religion and spirituality consider the ego to be a negative term. In simple terms, the ego is nothing more than the way that human beings see themselves. Self is a person as the object of his or her reflective consciousness.
Self is under continuous examination, and various studies are being organized to explain the meaning behind it. Self is more about the questions that include, do you love yourself, do you enjoy spending time alone? Do you think you can accomplish what you are in the process of working hard? Do you respect yourself? The self can also describe how or what a person is, such as their individual qualities. The self is considered as the source of consciousness.
