HR stands for Human Resources Management. Personnel management comprise more administrative disciplines of payroll issues, employment law, compliance, and interrelated tasks. On the other hand, HR is more involved with overseeing a workforce because this is one of the essential variables that keep a company running productively.

Human Resources is always represented to a broader extent than personnel management. Human Resources explains personnel management tasks, and simultaneously, it establishes teams of the company's productive employees. The main goal of HR is to provide workers with a suitable and appropriate place of business.

The typical tasks in Personnel Management include traditional routine duties, and it is commonly described as volatile. It only responds to the challenges as they come up. The organization does not influence Personnel Management. Personnel management typically tries to reward and inspire employees with wages, bonuses, compensation, and a standard paid yearly leave to attain employee satisfaction.

It is very easy to think that there is no difference between HRM and Personnel management because both are related in some ways. However, you can see some of their differences by comparing some of their functions. HRM or Human Resources Management oversees the management of the entire workforce. The scope of Human Resources Management is broader compared to Personnel Management. HRM also uses some of the personnel management skills. Personnel Management, on the other hand, focuses and deals with the employees. It also deals with the employment laws and payroll of the employees. The concerns and demands of the employees are made known to the company through the Personnel Management. On the contrary, HRM focuses primarily on the introduction of policies that will benefit the company’s workforce. Personnel management might not be directly linked to a particular company, but Human Resources Management is always a part of an organization.

When you say personnel management, this means that you are looking into the more traditional way of handling different employees when you are in the workplace. Some people say that this is already an old way of handling employees and it may not be too effective anymore at this point in time. When you say HRM, this is known to be human resource management that is considered to be the modern way of handling different employees that you can find in an organization. Take note that HRM is normally focused on developing employees and making sure that the employees are motivated enough to do their different work.

Personnel management is a traditional way of handling employees at an office place. In contrast, Human resource management is a modern technique which promotes employee goals, responsibility, and reward that will enhance the high level of HR Department with the help of the HR System.
