A disciple is a follower or a student of a teacher, leader, or philosopher. In his time, Jesus accepted all as his disciples, and they were all sinners. Jesus taught them the way to life and the truth. If you study the Bible, you know that Jesus chose 12 people to walk the earth with him and learn from him. These 12 people have initially been the disciples of Christ.

On the other hand, Apostles are advocates and supporters of an idea or a cause in which they believe, and this describes Jesus’s apostles. An apostle was a special trainee who would later be sent out as a messenger to preach Christianity. Judas is one example, and other examples of Apostles include Peter, Andrew, James, and Matthew.

So many people don’t see any difference between the words apostle and disciple because they are often used interchangeably. However, you can still see some of their differences when you check their meanings using the Bible. In Christianity, the Bible revealed that Jesus Christ had a lot of followers when he was carrying out the instructions of God on the surface of the earth. However, the Bible revealed that he had 12 disciples. These people were his students when he was on earth. The reason why Jesus had these 12 disciples was so that they could keep spreading the gospel of salvation even after his death. Therefore, a disciple is someone who is an active follower of another person. When you check the Bible, some of the disciples did become apostles after the departure of Jesus Christ. Therefore, an apostle is someone who has become a leader, or missionary.

When you say “apostle,” this means that you are referring to someone who is a messenger. The apostle may be someone who has been sent by the Lord. There are instances when there is a need for apostles in this world in order to spread the word of God. Those who are called “disciples” are the students of the apostles. They are the people who are trying to learn more about the word of the Lord. The more that they know, and the more that they act in the image and likeness of God, the higher the chances that they will also become apostles eventually. Take note that even apostles can become disciples in the sense that they still need to learn a few things in order to spread the word of God more.
