The term dwarf refers to very short individuals with disproportionate bodies, and a dwarf could have a normal size head but have extremely short arms and small hands. A midget is a short individual but has a proportionate body.

There are no specific health issues for midgets, but there can be health repercussions for being a dwarf, as it may incite disability. A dwarf suffers from the medical condition of dwarfism. A genetic disorder triggers this condition.

A dwarf can have several different health problems, while midgets are said to be in better health. Dwarfs may have distorted bones and joints, nerve compression, and disorientation of organs. Midgets can be teased or bullied for being midgets. However, there are no other serious issues.

Most people tend to use the terms dwarf and midget interchangeably because they are usually considered to be close in meaning. However, they are two different words. The term midget means a normally proportioned individual, usually someone with small stature. At times, you can use the word midget for a short person. However, it is often considered an insult when you call someone a midget. A dwarf, on the other hand, is a person of short stature, most times someone with a disproportionate body. A dwarf can have short hands and arms but with a big head. The growth of a midget does not cause any disability, but dwarfism can cause disability. Dwarfism can be a product of a genetic disorder, and that is why it is usually regarded as a medical condition. On the contrary, malnutrition can cause someone to become a midget. If someone is a midget, it doesn’t mean he/she is not in perfect health.

Some people may get confused about whether someone can be considered a “dwarf” or a “midget.” When you say “midget,” this is someone who has normal body proportions. There are some people who use this term when they want to describe someone who is small but in a derogatory way. Someone who is called a “dwarf” may be suffering from a certain condition that will not make the person grow normally. For example, someone who has dwarfism may experience this. There are also some people who develop conditions that will make them grow abnormally tall. It is best for people to not judge those who have conditions like this.
