Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine are both classified as stimulants, as both drugs mimic adrenaline in the body. However, they do not work as brain stimulants because the hydroxyl part of its chemical formation is differently incorporated into the drug. Ephedrine is a drug used to combat the effects of anesthesia.

Ephedrine can be a good vasoconstrictor. Pseudoephedrine is often used in providing relief in nasal congestion during a cold, with a limited impact on the peripheral blood vessels. It can be dispensed as a drug taken during nasal congestion. Both drugs have been used to aid in weight loss. However, the safety of doing this is up for debate.

Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are two drugs known as stimulants. Both drugs work by producing reactions similar to what adrenaline can produce. However, ephedrine and pseudoephedrine do not work like adrenaline. Although they share some similarities in terms of functions, their chemical formation is not the same. Ephedrine works by counteracting the effects of anesthesia in patients. Since it is also a good vasoconstrictor, it can also counteract the symptoms of a cold or runny nose. However, ephedrine is not administered to patients to alleviate runny nose because it can cause an increase in blood pressure. Pseudoephedrine is a drug used to alleviate the symptoms of nasal congestion. Unlike in ephedrine, pseudoephedrine does not lead to an increase in blood pressure. Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are stereoisomers of each other. What this means is that the hydroxyl group in their chemical structure is positioned differently. One takes a cis position and the other takes a trans position.

When you say ephedrine, this is something that has been used in order to treat asthma and also bronchitis. One thing that you should know is that it has been used for a long time. In fact, people have known about this for centuries. Pseudoephedrine is also used for the same purpose but the main difference is that it will not be that effective. Between the two, ephedrine is still going to be more potent and stronger. One similarity between the two is they will both have the ability to raise your blood pressure levels. Once again, when it comes to this aspect, pseudoephedrine is still going to be less effective.
