A pacemaker is an electronic device used to normalize the heartbeat by producing electrical impulses that transmit along the cardiac conducting pathways causing rhythmic irregularity. There are three main types of pacemakers. These include single-chamber pacing, dual-chamber pacing, dual-chamber pacing. Pacemakers are utilized to handle non-emergency cardiac dysrhythmias.

Defibrillation is a piece of medical equipment that is stored in the emergency room of a hospital. It is a life-saving emergency treatment that delivers a high voltage electrical jolt to jump-start the heart. There are a number of various types of defibrillators. These include manual external, manual internal, automatic external, and implantable cardioverters.

A defibrillator refers to a device that is usually used to correct cases of cardiac arrhythmias, ventricular fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia by introducing electrical shock or current to the heart. It acts on the sinoatrial node, the heart’s natural peacemaker. Several cases like these would have led to more serious complications or even death without the aid or process of a defibrillator. There various types of defibrillators, which include manual external defibrillator, manual internal defibrillator, automated external defibrillator, semi-automated external defibrillator, implantable cardioverter defibrillator, and wearable cardiac defibrillator. On the other hand, a peacemaker is known to be a small device that is used to treat abnormal electrical activities like arrhythmias, as well as other heart rhythm abnormalities, by putting the device on the heart. An individual suffering from shortness of breath, fatigue, and faintness may show impending arrhythmias. Peacemakers are usually used to correct these kinds of abnormalities.

The pacemaker is something that will make sure that your heart will be guided every day. The defibrillator will be in charge of giving alerts if in case your heartbeat starts to become irregular. A pacemaker is responsible for making sure that your heart will be beating at its proper rate at all times because when the heart stops beating, this can cause some issues in the long run.

A defibrillator in terms of size is bigger than the pacemaker. This will make sure that a person will not undergo a cardiac arrest especially if the patient is in danger of experiencing this. Using these devices can help save people’s lives.

Defibrillator and Pacemaker are two important devices or instruments that are used to correct certain abnormalities that might affect the normal functioning of the heart. However, both are not the same in terms of function. A defibrillator is an electronic device that can be used internally or externally to send a controlled electric shock to the heart of a patient in order to correct ventricular fibrillation, a rapid, irregular contraction of the heart's muscle fibers, and ventricular tachycardia.

If a patient is experiencing any of these abnormalities in the heart, and a defibrillator is not used, it might lead to dangerous and complicated heart problems. Pacemaker, on the other hand, is a device used to correct the abnormal electrical activities of the heart.

A pacemaker helps in controlling the natural pacemaker to stimulate the heart. All rhythm abnormalities are corrected when you use a pacemaker. Once the pacemaker is used on a patient, the heart begins to function at the normal rate.
