In 2020, the estimated population of Ireland is 4,937,786, according to the UN. Dublin is the largest and most populated city, with over 1 million people.

However, Ireland has experienced a massive drop since the famine in the 1840s, where the population of people was over 6.5 million. The Ireland of Island is located North Atlantic and is the third-largest island in Europe. It is also the 122nd largest island in the world.

As at the moment, the overall population of Ireland is over 4.94 million. A census was taken in the year 2011, where a total number of 4,588,252 were recorded. Another census took place in the year 2016, which revealed about 8 percent increase, and the number is 4,757,976. The estimated population of the Republic of Ireland, so far, resulted in putting Ireland as the 124th most populated nation in the world.

The island of Ireland, which is the 3rd largest island in Europe, is located in the North Atlantic. It has an area of 84,421 square kilometers (32,595 square miles), making it the 122nd largest island in the whole world. The Republic of Ireland had about 4.784 million populations as in the year 2017. This reveals the population density of about 57 persons per square kilometers (147 per square miles), still making it the 122nd in the world.
