Yes, one of the major causes of local crime is poverty. Poverty can be defined as not having enough material possession or income for a person's needs. Poverty may include social, political, and economic elements.

It can be classified as absolute, secondary, relative, and others. Poverty has caused a lot of local crimes like theft, stealing, rape, human trafficking, prostitution, killing, and others, etc.

Poverty is mainly caused by unemployment and idleness. It contributes up to 60% of local crimes in the whole world. It is very important that we eradicate poverty to reduce local crimes by providing employment, funds, encourage the development of skills, good education, and create awareness about the consequences of poverty to self.

I can say poverty is one of the factors that are responsible for local crimes. A lot of people are committing crimes solely because they want to get something out of it, and most times, what they are looking for is money. At times, people tend to look at things from different angles. Some people are of the opinion that poverty cannot be solely held responsible for the increasing rate of local crimes being committed by people.

They are supporting their claims from the angle that those who commit those crimes already had the intentions in them because there are other people who are living in abject poverty but still choose not to be committing crimes. But as far as I'm concerned, poverty is still one of the contributing factors. A lot of times, when criminals are apprehended, their number one excuse for their illegal actions use to be poverty.
