While corruption is definitely one of the causes of poor supply of water in some parts of Africa, however, there are other factors that are responsible for this. Corruption is a terrible cankerworm that has eaten deep into every aspect of development in Africa. Most government officials that are saddled with the responsibility to ensure an adequate supply of water for their citizens are misappropriating the funds. In some cases, a lot of people are colluding with some government officials so that water supply lines can be diverted to them for their personal use.

For instance, some people use their position to influence and determine where a water source will be located, even at the detriment of poor people. Most African governments have failed in their responsibility to implement laws that will ensure that water sources are protected from pollution. So many water sources have been polluted by people, but the unfortunate thing is that those people are not being arrested because the security agencies are being offered a bribe.
