Mental illness can be classified into different forms and types, but the most common classifications are; Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders, Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, and Dementia. While it is normal for people to feel scared easily or feel a kind of apprehension when speaking to a crowd, those who are suffering from anxiety disorders experience it more frequently, and it might extend to a very long period of time. Mood disorders are also a type of mental illness. This is when someone is filled with so much bitterness and sorrow, and the effects of this are disturbing the psychological and mental fitness of such a person.

Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders affect both the emotional and cognitive functions of the brain. Symptoms like delusions, hallucinations, incoherent speech, are most likely to be experienced by the victim. Dementia is also a form of mental illness. It is a continuous decline in the cognitive function of the brain, which results in loss of memory and the inability to perform some skills.

There are four types of mental illnesses. The first is an anxiety disorder. It causes people to experience fear and stress. There are many types of anxiety disorders, including a phobia of being out socially and panic disorders. Anxiety can also be the cause of other disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The second type of mental illness is a mood disorder. It leads to extreme feelings of sadness or happiness. Moods frequently fluctuate with this disorder. Another mental illness is a psychotic disorder. It leads to deranged personalities, like delusions and psychosis. Lastly, there are mental disorders that are a header for the sub-levels of mental illnesses.
