Some people normally assume that regular fasting and intermittent fasting are the same. Intermittent is a type of fasting wherein you would need to stop eating for a certain period of time. You will only eat again during the allowed time. Most people would fast for 12 to 16 hours. The rest of the hours will be done eating small meals. For those who would do regular fasting, they may do it for only a few hours, or they may do it for one whole day. Some people who do regular fasting may do it because they need to do so. For example, a person may need to do fasting because of an operation or a medical procedure that would only work on an empty stomach. Some may also do regular fasting because of their religion. Fasting can be done for several reasons, but most people who do intermittent fasting do it to lessen their weight.

Fasting is a general term that describes abstinence from food. People fast for different reasons. Fasting can be very helpful to the body; it can also be dangerous if done for a long period of time. When you fast for long periods, let’s say 2 to 3 days, your digestive system is empty, this allows your body redirects its energy towards other body functions such as eliminating dead cells, healing and repairing cells and removing toxins from the body.

Intermittent fasting is an effective eating pattern. It is done by skipping meals at certain hours of the day. The goal of intermittent fasting is to cut down or control food consumption, which can help improve a person’s health in many ways. Intermittent fasting can help you lose weight, control sugar level, blood pressure level, and so on.
