A plant-based diet is a type of diet that focuses on eating more of food primary from a plant source such as whole foods, fruits, grains, seeds, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts. These foods are highly rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals and even free of cholesterol. A plant-based diet is also low in calories and saturated fat. There are different types of plant-based diets. The three main types are:
Lacto-Ovo vegetarians: This plant-based diet focuses on eating dairy foods and eggs but meat, poultry, or seafood.
Ovo-vegetarians: this plant-based diet permits eggs, but all other animal foods are avoided. This includes dairy.
Vegans:It is the strictest of all, it does not permit the consumption of any animal products at all. I believe the first type (Lacto-Ovo vegetarian) is the best option. To some degree, this plant-based diet helps you get some of the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that are found in animal products and not in plant-based products. This will help prevent possible deficiencies of essential minerals in the body.
