Greenland Igloos are a dome-shaped Inuit shelter that is constructed of blocks of cut from the snow. Igloos are used as shelters by Eskimos and hunters during winter. The word “igloo” is derived from an Inuit word for “home.” Igloos are built in places where there are lots of snow covering most parts of the land They are mostly found in Greenland, which is the largest island in the world.

It is located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Over two-third of Greenland is covered by permanent ice sheets. Igloos are also found in the north of Canada and Austria. Igloos can be found across Europe, especially in places such as Switzerland, Finland, Slovenia, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.

Igloo translates to the Inuit word for house, or it is better known as "snow house." It is a dome-shaped house that is usually found in temperatures that are cold and frigid. These include Canada's Central Arctic and Greenland’s Thule area. They are only used between the Mackenzie River delta and Labrador.

Although igloos are highly connected to Inuits and their culture, igloos are now affiliated with these other places. Technically, they are found in the far North Pole and the distant South Pole. The first people to make the igloos were the Esquimaux, which means Eskimo.

Of course, igloos do not exist by themselves; they are built by men. Mostly, igloos are found in an area where snow dominates for weeks or months. As a matter of fact, snow -a large amount of it- is used to build the igloo house. Igloo houses are predominantly found among the Inuits (which are also referred to as Eskimoes). They are mostly located in Greenland and the far north of Canada. However, the locations where igloos can be found are not limited to this.

Igloos are also found in some other areas of the world, such as Norway, Finland, Italy, and etc. Let me try to list out some places where relatively the best igloos can be found. The places include; south Tyrol in Italy, stockhorn in Switzerland, Zugspitze in Germany, Gstaad in Switzerland, Chamrousse in France, Andorra in Spain, Zermatt in Switzerland, Engelberg in Switzerland, mâcot-la-Plagne in France, and some others.
