Invertebrates are very common in nature; in fact, I'm very sure you have seen so many of them today. Generally, the Animal Kingdom is divided into two; the vertebrates and invertebrates. Out of the two, the invertebrates constitute about 95 percent of the total animal species. As of today, over two million species of invertebrates have been identified, while a lot of them are yet to be identified. This is way beyond what we have for vertebrates because the total number of vertebrates species that have been identified is just 58,000.

Invertebrates are enjoying this kind of population because they can reproduce very easily and faster, and a lot of them can adapt to severe conditions. For instance, insects like butterflies, mosquitoes have wings; as a result, they can easily escape the moment they sense any hostile environment. Another reason is that they are heterotrophic; they can feed on plants and animals.

Invertebrates would not be considered rare; however, there are particular species of invertebrates that are endangered. These include species of moths, butterflies, dragonflies, crustaceans, damselflies, and mussels. The environment they reside in has to be specific and protected.

For example, many of the moths and butterflies live in oak barrens, which protect them from fires and other possible calamities. The aquatic invertebrates must live in unpolluted water to be conserved. Their habitats can see many disasters if they are not protected. More than 90 percent of all living species are invertebrates. There are more invertebrates than vertebrates.

No, invertebrates are not rare. In fact, over 95% of all animal species are invertebrates. They are by far the largest group in the animal kingdom. Nearly 2 million species of invertebrates have been identified. Invertebrates are animals that lack backbone and skeleton. Invertebrates can also be found in a vast range of habitats. They are found in forests, deserts, caves, and seabed mud.

Invertebrates are also very common because they reproduce easily. Compared to invertebrates, all vertebrates put together are only is a small proportion of invertebrates. Invertebrates are so abundant that within a few square meters, you will find tens of thousands of them. Therefore, invertebrates are not rare, but on the contrary, they are abundant.
