The Yuletide of the Germanic/Scandinavian tribes celebrates by an elaborate feast, which is complemented with specific prayers and rites to "bring the sun back to life." In Iran, they light bonfires and perform purification rituals.
Ancient Romans observed winter solstice with their holiday called Saturnalia, which lasted for a week. Romans praised the god, Saturn during this time. In America, many Christian traditions are associated with the winter solstice. We regard winter solstice as part of Christmas.
