Regardless of religious beliefs, natural disasters are bound to happen. This is because Earth has to move to sustain life. However, when that movement occurs, it is a chance that Earth can react in a violent way, which causes natural disasters. Despite the science of it, Christians and some other religious sectors believe that natural disasters are an act of God.
They feel it is God's way of saying it is time to change one's way. The old testament of the Bible told different stories of how natural disasters would occur because God was unhappy with his people and wanted them to change.

Some may say that natural disasters are acts of God. In the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament, there are a lot of stories there that will show that God is considered to be a vengeful God. He is not very happy whenever people forget about him. He has done a lot of things that would wipe out different people, especially those who did not believe in Him.
Due to this, some people still believe that because of all the sin that other people are doing in this world, God may be trying to punish those who are wrong and do not want to repent. The natural disasters that are happening right now can be scientifically explained, but people who are very religious may think otherwise.
Most of the time, when we are talking about natural disasters separate from their scientific event, we will often blame God for punishing the victims of the natural disaster. Even insurance companies have clauses in their policies that report events they term, "Acts of God," as not being covered.
So, when disasters occur that are on the Act of God list, they will not reimburse you for your loss. Insurance companies have most likely landed upon this convenient explanation to describe a situation that was out of man's control. There is an invisible power involved in the whipping winds and the outpouring of floods, which inevitably have to be an act of God.
Some people may feel that all of the natural disasters that are happening right now are created by God in order to make people realize that they have to change their ways. In the old testament of the Bible, there were different stories stating that there were many natural disasters that God created because he was disappointed with His people. He felt that they have already forgotten Him.
The natural disasters are meant to make people realize that they still need to remember God and what he can do. The old testament is not really favored by a lot of religious people because it shows a vengeful God. This is definitely different from the type of God that is being portrayed right now.
