There have been many ecological disasters that have devastated and crippled our ecosystems. The most notable one of this era was Hurricane Katrina, which occurred in August 2005. Katrina was one of the worst hurricanes experienced by the United States. It was a category four storm. It hit Florida, and some of the injured cities were Mississippi, New Orleans, and Biloxi. It killed a plethora of citizens and produced more than $100 billion in property damage.
On December 16, 1920, a terrible earthquake hit Haiyuan County in Central China. Most civilians were buried in landslides, caused by the ground shaking. The effects were felt from the Yellow Sea to Qinghai Province on the Tibetan Plateau, and the quake ruined four cities and buried many towns and villages. Back in the day, The Coringa Cyclone of 1839 hit the port city of Coringa, whipping up to 40 feet. Many ships and vessels were desecrated.
