The importance of hashtags depends on who is using it. For the user who is using the social network to connect with family or friends or the user who posts every blue moon may not have importance on hashtags. However, the user who is using the social networks for business or brand purposes would need hashtags to build their brand, their following, and increase engagement.

For example, influencers need to use social networks to get contracts to be able to promote different brands. They use the hashtags on their posts as a way to attract brands and build their careers.

It depends on what people’s goals are. There are some who will find this important because they would like to influence other people. They know that they will not be effective as influencers if they do not have a following or if people do not even know that they exist.

They can use hashtags to help people search for them easily. People who may like their content will also follow them. A hashtag may not be very important to someone who just wants to share some details about the things that have been purchased or the events that have happened to his/her life so far. The priorities of people will determine if hashtags are popular or not.
