Bedridden is a condition wherein a person is already confined to stay on his or her bed for a prolonged period of time. There are various reasons that can make a person bedridden. Some become bedridden because of an injury. Some may only become bedridden for a while but will regain their strength again after they get better.
Some get bedridden and remain that way until the day that they die. Some become bedridden because of old age. They are unable to move anymore because they are too weak. People who are bedridden usually have some people who are taking care of them. Sometimes it is their family members, and other times, they are being cared for by professionals.

Bedridden has a comprehensive spectrum of meanings. It generally means someone who has to remain in bed for an extended period of time. It could be someone confined to bed by a medical- instructions following an illness of psychological proportion, such as severe trauma.
It also pertains to the sick, ill, and those affected by an impairment of normal physical or mental function. It could also apply to someone who has just had surgery. Very older people may become bedridden due to pain or weakness. Whatever the case, the condition demonstrates immobility.
