On December 6, 1992, a rally was organized at the site of the mosque. A mob of people stormed the mosque during public speeches. The Babri Masjid was attacked with a plethora of contrived tools and brought to the ground in a few hours.
Riots occurred in many major Indian cities, and a land title case was lodged in the Allahabad high court. The verdict was declared on September 30, 2010. Three judges ruled that the acres of land be divided into three parts. One third going to Ram Lalla or Infant Rama, one third going to Sunni Waqf Board, and the final one third was awarded to Nirmohi Akhara, which is a Hindu religious denomination.
The three judges did not all agree that the disputed structure was erected after the demolition of the temple. They did acknowledge that a temple structure predated the mosque at the site.
