Jeffrey Epstein died in the shadiest, most unusual circumstances. In July 2019, Epstein was found inert, in his jail cell with wounds to his neck. Epstein mentioned he was attacked by his cellmate, which was a pending trial for four murder counts. The correctional team alleged attempted suicide, and following the incident, Epstein was placed on a suicide watch. He was placed in a special housing section.
The jail told the Justice Department that he would have a cellmate, and the guard would check in every half hour. These stipulations were not pursued on the night of his death. On August 9, 2019, Epstein's cellmate was transferred out, and there was no new cellmate. Cameras had been tampered with, and no checks were made. Ultimately, Epstein was found dead in his cell at Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City on the night of August 9, 2019. The Justice Department is investigating his death.
