When comparing these two dogs, the English breed is larger than the American breed. In comparison, the two dogs, there is a substantial difference in the shape of their heads. The American cocker spaniels have circular heads. The English cocker spaniel has a rectangular-shaped head.

The American spaniel's nose is a little shorter than the English cocker spaniel’s. The American dog has eyes that are slightly wider and projected forward compared to the English dog — the lips of the American cocker spaniel drape down more than the English cocker spaniel.

The American spaniel has a very long, shiny coat. Alternately, the English Cocker Spaniel has a thicker coat, which is shorter than the American breeds. The English dog possesses the hunting instinct, while the American dog does not.
