The term “sanatorium” refers to a medical institution that treats chronic diseases and provides supervised recuperation and convalescence. Sanatorium and sanitarium are two terms that have almost the same spelling and pronunciation.

Sanatoriums were first made in the 19th century, mostly for people with tuberculosis before the introduction of antibiotics. The first Sanatorium was opened in Silesia, Germany, by Hermann Brehmer in 1863. Sanitarium also has the same meaning as a sanatorium.

The two words are often used interchangeably by many. The significant difference between these orders is their origin. The sanatorium is a word derived from the Latin word sanitorius, which stands for “health-giving”. Sanitarium is derived from the Latin word “sanitas” which stands for “health.” Sanitarium is a North American word while sanatorium is a British word.

The word sanitorium is derived from the Latin word sanitorius, which means health-giving. Sanitoriums were first established in the 1800s, mostly to treat tuberculosis. The purpose of a sanitarium was isolating the sick from the healthy population to provide patients with a healthy environment for healing.

The word sanitarium is obtained from the Latin word, Sanitas, meaning “health” and indicating to the health which is achieved from visiting such a place. Sanitariums are mostly health resorts. People at a sanitarium maintain a comfortable life.

Sanitariums have been in existence for a very long time. The term "sanitarium" comes from the Latin word "Sanitas," which means health, and referring to the health obtained from visiting such a place. Sanitariums are places that are essentially health resorts. People at a sanitarium inhabit in comfortable living conditions with an abundance of nutritious foods at their disposal.

Often sanitariums were located near mineral springs or similar natural water sources, which were believed to have mental health benefits. Similar to a sanitarium, a sanitorium was created to encourage health through healthy eating as well as monitored exercise and rest. In a sanitorium, the person is always sick, usually with tuberculosis. A sanitarium is more like a hospital, and it treats specific diseases.
