Some people may get confused with the difference between the flan and creme brulee, mainly because they look almost the same. One of the things that you will notice immediately is that creme brulee will have a hard top portion that is caused by the small kitchen torch. It will be a delight to break through the thin barrier to get the creamy goodness underneath.
The flan is soft all throughout. There are also some flans that are surrounded by syrup in order to make it even softer and creamier than expected. The flan may be somewhat similar to jelly, but the creme brulee is creamier and considered to be more decadent.
Crème Brulee and flan are two famous and beloved desserts to end a nice meal. The two desserts are quite similar; however, there are some notable differences. The ratio of ingredients, preparation method, serving method, and other components such as toppings and glazes are different. Crème Brulee is a baked custard dessert that is condensed with cream, egg yolks, and vanilla extracts.
The delectable treat is then prepared in a pudding-like custard base and while Crème Brulee is French for “burnt custard.” Flan is caked crème caramel. The ingredients in this dessert are practically identical to that of crème Brulee but differ in portion when preparing desserts. The toppings are also different. Crème Brulee has hard caramel on top, while flan is soft caramel on top.
