A peptide is also known to be a short polymer. Some people may be more familiar with the term “protein” instead of a peptide. Take note however, that a peptide is still not considered a protein because it is too small. This is composed of amino acids (two or more) It is common for a peptide to form bonds with another peptide. When this happens, a peptide bond is formed.

A polypeptide, on the other hand, is a compound that is composed of more than 10 amino acids. When there are 50 0r more amino acids, that is the time when the compound can be called an actual protein. Another difference between the two is their length. The polypeptide is known to be longer than the peptide.
