What is the difference between Earn and Urn?

Some may get confused with earn and urn because they sound the same. These two words may be considered as homonyms, but their meanings are completely different. Earn means “to gain.” For example, you may say, “I need to work in order to earn money.”

If this would be translated, this means that you will gain money when you work. The urn is a type of container that may contain various things, but most of the time, ashes are placed inside the urn, especially after cremation.

The urn is used in lieu of the casket, which a lot of people prefer depending on their beliefs. These two words should not be interchanged with each other because of their very different meanings.

An urn is a tall vase with a footed base. It is often made of metal. It can used to serve many purpose such as serving tea or coffee, a receptacle for flower, a vessel for the ashes or cremains of a deceased person and as a contain for liquids.
