Joaquin Phoenix is an actor, producer, and activist, born in October 1974 in Puerto Rico. He has received a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and three Academy Award nominations. His brother was River Phoenix, who died in 1993.
He has played many unique and exciting film roles, which includes his famous portrayal of country-folk singer, Johnny Cash in the movie, "Walk the Line." He also starred in the film, "The Master," which earned him the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. Phoenix is known for his animal rights advocacy. He has been a vegan since he was just three years old, and he also campaigns for PETA and In Defense of Animals.
