People became aware of Disney's plan to have its own streaming platform in September 2017. The name Disney+ was announced in 2018. And as it stands now, necessary arrangements are being made to make sure that it is successfully launched on November 12, 2019.Disney + will be launched to provide steaming service to people, and at the same time, it will be launched to compete and relegate other video streaming platforms like Hulu, Netflix, Sling TV, etc. This service will be launched in different countries of the world on the same day.

Disney+ plans to start by releasing limited but quality movies and TV shows in its first year. Subscribers will have limited TV shows and movies to watch because Disney + is planning to start with movies and series from Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television. Although, subscribers will also have access to television content from Hulu and sports content from ESPN.

In April 2019, Disney announced that the service would take off in the United States on November 12th, 2019.
