The six classes of food are carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats and oils, and water. The carbohydrates are foods that supply energy to the body. They are usually referred to as energy-giving food. Examples are the cereals and root crops generally, such as rice, wheat, yam, cassava, and so on. The proteins are responsible for the growth of the body, and they are popularly referred to as body-building food. Examples include legumes, animal products, such as beans, milk, meats, etc. Vitamins are essential for repairing body tissues and also provide necessary nutrients to fight against antibodies.

The six classes of food are carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats and oils, and water.
Examples of vitamins are majorly fruits and vegetables, such as spinach, lettuce, cucumber, banana, orange, etc. Minerals are inorganic elements such as calcium, iodine, sodium, which are essential for transmitting nerve impulses and also building strong bones. Fats and oil are food that also gives surplus energy to the body. Examples are vegetable oil, coconut oil, margarine, etc. Lastly, water is the most important process the other nutrients in the body.
