Pythagoras probably invented the term philosophy. Typically, the term philosophy refers to a body of knowledge. Philosophical methods involve questioning, critical discussion, logical argument, and organized presentation. Historically, “philosophy” comprises any body of knowledge.
Since the era of Aristotle, natural philosophy implies the combination of astronomy, medicine, and physics. In the modern era, certain teachings that commonly fell under the branch of philosophy became separate academic disciplines. These include psychology, sociology, linguistics, and economics. The concept of philosophy is evolving to include education, mathematics, religion, natural science, and politics.
