The reasons for this are very easy to figure out. The huge religious activities in India is one of the reasons why there seem to be so many superstitions in India. India is filled with so many religions, and all of them with different religious beliefs and practices. Most of these religions believe in the supernatural, and the belief in the supernatural is the fertile ground on which superstitions strive. The inability to effectively differentiate faith and belief from the supernatural is another reason.

Examples of superstitions that people still believe are; Do not sweep at twilight, do not cut nails at twilight, eating of meat is a huge violation on some days, pregnant women shouldn't see the eclipse, etc.
