5G simply means Fifth Generation, and it refers to a super-fast wireless mobile network. We are currently leaving at a time when everybody wants to get things done very easily at a very faster rate. Before now, technologies have brought about the use of 2G, 3G, 4G, and now we are moving to 5G.
What this means is that people will be able to enjoy internet connection at a very faster rate because the internet speed will increase, and it can always be relied on. I think we all need to envisage a period where you easily get whatever you need on the internet or a technology that will put an end to the various problems we encounter when making transactions on the internet because of poor network. However, this won't come cheap; people will definitely pay more for this service because it will also cost the network providers a lot before this technology can be achieved.
5G is the fifth-generation cellular network technology. The industry association 3 GPP defines any system using 5G NR (5G New Radio) software as 5G, a classification that came into general use by late 2018. It comes after 2G, 3G, and 4G and their correlated technologies. 5G networks are digitized cellular networks in which the service area covered by providers is allocated into smaller territorial regions called cells.
Analog signals depicting sounds and images are digitized in the phone, transformed by an analog to digital converter, and sent as a stream of bits. All the 5G wireless devices in a cell communicate with each other by radio waves with a local antenna array and low power automated transceiver (transmitter and receiver) in the cell.

5G stands for 5th generation cellular network. There was a time when people were already happy with 2G whenever they need to connect to the internet, but over time, 2G has improved to 3G then to 4G, and finally, to 5G. 5G is said to be the successor of the 4G but there is no need to upgrade your gadgets immediately because 4G and 5G would be working together for the years to come.
There are some upgrades that can be expected from 5G like the fact that it will be about 100 times faster as compared to 4G. it will also allow IoT to become more applicable which is helpful because there are now smarter appliances and gadgets that are being released in the market.
