Ellen has won 32 out of 68 nominations for Emmys alone, and more People's Choice Awards than any other entertainer. The Ellen DeGeneres Show won 25 Primetime Emmy Awards for its first three seasons on the air. Her Primetime Emmy wins consist of Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing, along with Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Ellen's daytime talk show has garnered accolades.
The show broke ground by beating out The Oprah Winfrey Show for being the most awarded talk show in Daytime Emmy history. Ellen is also no stranger to controversy. Besides her coming out as gay, she received a lot of praise in 2001 for hosting the televised broadcast of the Emmy Awards, which was right after the September 11 attacks. She also hosted the Emmys in 2005, only three weeks after Hurricane Katrina.
