Research indicates that 30 percent of the 16,500 people involved in the mission behind Chandrayaan-2 are women. These people include Project Director M. Vanitha, who is also the first woman project director at ISRO. She is a data specialist who came out of the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre. She was named Best Woman Scientist in 2006 by the Astronomical Society of India.
Another woman responsible for the success of Chandrayaan-2 is the Mission director called "Rocket Woman of India." Her name is Ritu Karidhal. She received the ISRO Young Scientist Award in 2007. The mission also involved "Rocket Man," K. Sivan. Sivan is known for his efforts in developing cryogenic engines. The Director of UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru is another man participating in this. His name is M. Annadurai.
