A feature is a newspaper or magazine article, or report of a person or event typically geared toward a target audience. It is the lighter side of the news. It boasts a generous personal slant, and it is written in an individual style. It is the main or the most prominent story in the paper or a magazine.
It can also be part of a broadcast program devoted to the treatment of a particular topic, usually at length. It is a piece of non-fiction writing. Feature stories are notorious for being human interest stories. These stories are not defined so much by subject matter as they are by the style in which they are written.
