London was founded by the Romans two millennia ago and is the capital of England also the most important city in the United Kingdom. There is the main part of the UK, with Scotland at the top and Wales to the western side. Ireland is an island over the Irish Sea, but not far away.
London is in the south east of England and it would take an hour and a half to get to the nearest sea, being at the head of its 50-mile estuary leading to the North Sea. London holds much important culture in theatres, museums and art galleries. It is also a vital center for much financial activity. Many people from different countries feel at home in London. It's one of the most popular cities to visit in Europe.
