Haploid and diploid are terms commonly used in the study of cell division. Haploid is the term used to refer to a single set of unpaired chromosomes. Haploid cells are produced through the process of meiosis. A common example of haploid is gametes because they contain a single set of chromosomes, which are 23 chromosomes.

Diploid, on the other hand, refers to having a pair of each type of chromosome—one of the pair being derived from the ovum and the other from the spermatozoon. Examples of diploid cells are somatic cells.

Diploid has 23 pairs of chromosomes. It can also be referred to as 46 chromosomes. Diploid cells go through the process of mitosis.

Haploid cells are known to be cells that contain one complete set of chromosomes. The most common type of this cell is the gametes. This may come in the form of meiosis. These are known to be diverse cells that will make sure that sexual reproduction is possible. People usually have 23 chromosomes for the haploid cells.

Diploid cells are known to have cells that come with two sets of chromosomes. In diploid cells, the parents will donate one set of chromosomes each so that the offspring will have two sets of chromosomes. Take note that chromosomes will be very important in forming the identity of people and other living things.

Haploid and diploid are terms in cell division. The term ploidy refers to the number of chromosomes present in the nucleus of a cell. Haploid cells are cells that have just one set chromosome present in them. They are produced through the process of meiosis. The most common example of haploid cells is the germ cell which this also known as the sex cell. Organisms such as algae also have haploid cells at some point in their life cycle.

Diploid cells are cells that have two sets of chromosomes present in their nucleus. A common example is humans. Somatic cells in humans have 2 sets of chromosomes. Every one of us has two sets of the chromosome with one set from each parent. Normally, a person gets 23 chromosomes from the father and 23 chromosomes from the mother. However, in some chromosomal disorders, these numbers are altered. Hope you find this information helpful.

There are some people who may think that these are the same but actually, these two are different due to the number of chromosomes that you can find in the nucleus. Cells that come with two sets of cells are called diploids while those who only have one set of cells are called haploids. Human beings have gametes that are called haploid cells.

All of them will contain 23 chromosomes which is one of the chromosome pairs that can normally be found if you would check the diploid cell. Germ egg cells and sperm cells are considered to be haploids while most of the cells that can be found in the body are diploid cells.

The main difference between haploid and diploid cells is the number of cells that can be found in the nucleus of both cells. Cells that come with two sets are called diploid, while cells that come with one set will be called haploid. In human beings that are mostly made out of diploid cells, there is still a presence of haploid cells.

The haploid cells are used for reproduction, while the rest are just made of diploid cells. The way that they are reproduced is also different from each other. Haploid cells will make use of meiosis while diploid cells will need to go through mitosis.
