Some people choose to jailbreak their iPhones, but they are not sure what are the differences between tethered and untethered jailbreak. Tethered jailbreak means that the device would need to be connected to a computer device before it can be turned on. If the phone is not connected to the computer, then it will not work like a jailbroken phone.

This would require special software before this can properly work. An untethered jailbreak means that the phone can be jailbroken even when it is not connected to the computer. The software, the other mechanisms that are needed to make sure that it will reach its jailbroken state, will be available on the phone.

Jailbreaking is the process of modifying apple devices such as iPhone, iPod, and iPad to remove restrictions placed on the devices by Apple. It provides rooting access to the device. Such devices can have applications that are not in the App store installed on them. Jail breaking can either be tethered or untethered. The difference between this two is that tethered jail breaking requires that the device must be connected to a PC when it is put on.

The program used to jail break the device must be used to boot the device while it is connected to a PC. Untethered jail braking on the other hand does not require the iOS device to be connected to a PC to put it on. With this type of jail breaking, the device is permanently jail broken. Hope you find this information helpful.

The tethered jailbreak will require to be placed on the computer so that the iOS device will work very well. The untethered jailbreak will not require to be connected to the computer anymore so that it will work. If you would try to enter the jailbroken state when you have an untethered device, your device and apps will not be affected when you remove it from a computer.

Take note that there are some people who would like to jailbreak their device so that they will be able to download different applications that are not usually available in the App Store. App Store can be very particular about the apps that they offer.

What does it mean when you hear people say that a particular phone is untethered jailbreak or tethered jailbreak? A tethered jailbreak will need the device to be connected to a PC when it is turned on. This will ensure that the process will go on smoothly, and the phone will be successfully jailbroken.

Untethered jailbreak means that everything that the person may need to go through the process of jailbreaking is already available on the phone. There is no need to connect the iOS device to the computer anymore. Jailbreaking will allow specific applications that are not available through the App Store to be downloaded to the device.
